Carter Adler's Page of Evil!

UNDER CONSTRUCTION! There's a bit here to read, but as you'll find out soon below, there will be "more details soon!"

There was once a Page of Evil somewhere online. It was a thing of beauty (or horror, depending on how you look at it!). I decided that this was something that should live on, so I created my own. If you'd like to suggest an addition to my Page of Evil, please email me ("cmadler at hotmail dot com") and be sure to explain why that person, company, or whatever should be added.

Evil Index: Isn't it amazing that all the evil is in the first half of the alphabet? Hmmmm...

Andie Mac Dowell:
I really don't have that much against her. She can be a little annoying at times, but she was in some movies that I did enjoy: Groundhog Day wasn't bad, and I really liked Sex, Lies, and Videotape. But she's the only person I can remember from the original Page of Evil so she's on the list.

Antonin Dvorak's 9th Symphony, "From the New World":
Aside from being played entirely too often (whether on public radio, by orchestras, or in crappy marching band arrangements), Dvorak's "New World Symphony" was written by an Eastern European who had hardly set foot in America. It's thouroughly stuck in classical European forms, and the third movement (in my opinion, the best) rips off the third movement of Beethoven's famous 9th symphony!

Archer Daniels Midland:
ADM is truly a despicable organization, with bribery and price fixing often seemingly its only major endeavors. About three years ago, an FBI agent busted ADM for a massive price-fixing scheme with it's Japanese competetors that netted the company millions of dollars of illegal gains. The FBI tapes apparently contained recordings of top ADM executives plotting to skirt US trade laws, and also they "peppered their conversations with lewd and bigoted references to colleagues and employees" (according to the New York Times). According to the Cato Institute, "The Archer Daniels Midland Corporation (ADM) has been the most prominent recipient of corporate welfare in recent U.S. history. ADM and its chairman Dwayne Andreas have lavishly fertilized both political parties with millions of dollars in handouts and in return have reaped billion-dollar windfalls from taxpayers and consumers. Thanks to federal protection of the domestic sugar industry, ethanol subsidies, subsidized grain exports, and various other programs, ADM has cost the American economy billions of dollars since 1980 and has indirectly cost Americans tens of billions of dollars in higher prices and higher taxes over that same period. At least 43 percent of ADM's annual profits are from products heavily subsidized or protected by the American government."

BankOne
The banking behemoth.

Compaq:
Maker of crappy computers. Their merger with HewlettPackard has sullied one of the greatest technology companies.

DeBeers:
The diamond cartel. (More details soon)

Dick Cheney:
"Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain. He is of no consequence!" (Details soon) As a complete side note, have you ever noticed that Dick Cheney resembles the Penguin?

Disney:
For polluting young (and some older) minds, and for messing up the copyright laws. (More details soon)

"God Bless the U.S.A." by Lee Greenwood:
This song is symbolic of everything that is wrong about the USA. (More details soon)

Hallmark:
The greeting card company has stifled human interaction. When a friend gets sick or whatever, no need to worry about them excessively, just buy a card with a message written on it, and be done with it. Birthdays, graduations, anniversaries, holidays (heck, they even made up a few new holidays!) -- thanks to Hallmark we no longer have to think about what to say to other people on these days. Hallmark will say it for us.

McDonald's:
Billions and billions McServed. Possibly self-explanantory, but details soon.

Microsoft:
OK, do I really need to justify this one? I didn't think so! (Details soon, just in case)
